Communion was with “real” bread this Sunday at our church. The Communion service was beautiful, and I know I wasn’t the only one glad to have baked bread as the Communion element instead of the thin, dry wafers in the hard to open sealed packets we’ve been using the last two years. I am grateful to take Communion anytime I can, but this was special. I savored the small piece of bread, and I couldn’t help but think, "I want more."
As I swallowed my piece of Communion bread, Cathy was saying the prayer after we receive Communion. He prayer included this sentence, “Jesus, make us hungry for even more of you in our lives.” I had to smile. I was challenged to wonder if I wanted Jesus as much as that tasty bread. What might my life look like if I was as hungry for Jesus every day?

Jesus came to give us the good life, but may I be as hungry for things that matter for others and for eternity as I am for what tastes good to me for a moment.
