It all felt a bit foolish. But it told the Bible story of Samuel selecting David from Jesse’s sons in a very interesting way. It also was a lot of fun. All the kids loved it, except the little girl scared by the guy in the cow pajamas.
Have you ever felt like Jesus wanted you to do something that might seem a little foolish in the eyes of the world? Being committed to Him can put us in positions that seem foolish by the standards of the world. We need to depend on prayer, the Bible, the wisdom of others, and the Holy Spirit to make sure we aren’t just being fools. Paul wrote that he was a fool for Christ because he knew that following Jesus can look foolish to the world. The way we serve others, forgive others, care for others, even when it comes at a cost to ourselves, may not seem to make sense.
The amazing thing is not that we are willing to be bold enough to look foolish in the eyes of the world to serve the Lord. The amazing thing is how willing He was to look foolish in the eyes of the world to save us.
