When Cathy and I arrived at Trinity UMC in Plymouth I was greeted with a beautiful digital sign welcoming me. I texted the picture above to my family. My sister told my nephew, “Uncle Jeff got a sign!” He asked, “Was it from God?”
After having been part of the process of helping promote purchasing a new sign in a church, the answer is, “Yes, the sign is from God!” Maybe it doesn’t take a miracle, but it takes a lot of time, prayer, hard work, and generous giving to get a digital church sign.
It is wonderful to come to Trinity and have that hard work already done. I really do thank God for the sign!
Marie Kelly, Marilyn Lacher, Marge Reynolds and their families gifted their churches with money for the signs in front of Wakarusa UMC and Plymouth Trinity UMC. It is interesting that major contributions for these new digital signs were from “elder stateswomen” who had a vision for the future of the churches they loved.
The signs are beautiful; however, the most important thing about any sign really isn’t the sign itself. The important thing about a sign is what it represents. The value of a church sign is found in the local body of Christ the sign represents and the work the church does for God and people.
While digital church signs are wonderful, I would encourage you to keep in mind that if you are a disciple of Jesus, you are the most valuable “church sign” He has.
